CLOSET PARTY - ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS

This piece is a reflection of my childhood and queer identity. That no matter how queer you are it may still be a mystery to you until that day of realization. Closet Party shows a fun care free depiction of a large unlit candle in the center surrounded by two lit candles, leafy foliage, inconspicuous rainbow box with a 50, sweet treats and items that seem gendered no matter how inanimate. Though to me this is a purple piece, I wanted pink and blue intertwined seamlessly in a way that is hard to tell what the chosen color is. Sexuality and gender are journeys for no one but the self. A discovery process, but sometimes you can be surrounded by the answer and miss it no matter how obvious it may seem.
